How to choose a phone under ₹15,000
1. Chip first. In this price band you will mostly see the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and UNISOC T8200/T8300. If a listing does not name the processor, treat that as a reason to look closer.
2. Storage you can live with. 64GB fills up quickly once apps, WhatsApp media and photos pile up. Several phones here offer 128GB for a few hundred rupees more, and many take a microSD card (the listing says “expandable”).
3. Screen. Everything here is 6.7 inches or larger. Full HD+ is sharper than HD+; refresh rate was not listed consistently on the store pages we checked, so we left it out rather than guess.
4. Battery. 6,000 mAh is now normal at this price. Check the charger: some phones ship without one or with a slower charger than the phone supports.
5. After-sales service. Newer brands (Ai+, Mivi, HMD in its current form) can be good value, but check that a service centre exists near you.

Is 4GB RAM enough in 2026?
For calls, WhatsApp, UPI and YouTube, 4GB works. If you keep many apps open or play games, prefer 6GB or 8GB. Virtual or "extended" RAM uses storage and is not the same as physical RAM.
HD+ or Full HD+: does it matter on a budget phone?
