How to pick a phone under ₹30,000

Screen: if you watch a lot of video, an AMOLED panel (POCO X8, Nothing Phone 4b) is the main upgrade over cheaper phones. Check the listing; many do not name the panel type.

Battery: this is the budget where 7,000 mAh+ becomes normal. The POCO X8 lists 9,000 mAh.

RAM: 6GB is the minimum we would buy at this price. The Galaxy A36 starts at 8GB.

Brand and updates: Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus, Nothing, vivo and POCO all have service networks in India. Software update promises differ by brand and model; check the brand’s own page, since store listings rarely state them.

FAQ

Which phone under ₹30,000 has the best battery?

By listed capacity, the POCO X8 5G (9,000 mAh), followed by the vivo T5x (7,200 mAh) and the Motorola g max and OnePlus Nord CE6 Lite (7,000 mAh each).

Which phones under ₹30,000 have an AMOLED display?

In this list, the listings for the POCO X8 5G and the Nothing Phone (4b) say AMOLED. The others list Full HD+ without naming the panel type, or (vivo T5x) no resolution at all.

Is the Motorola g max a good choice if I only have ₹22,000?

On paper it matches phones that cost several thousand more: 7,000 mAh, Full HD+ and a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. It is also a strong alternative to the picks in our under ₹20,000 guide if you can stretch slightly.

Should I wait for prices to fall after Diwali?

Nobody can promise that. Prices on Flipkart and Amazon move during and after sales; if a phone is at a price you are comfortable with and your card offer applies, it is reasonable to buy. Always compare the same RAM/storage variant.
